Water Borehole Drilling

With over 30 years of experience in the mineral exploration fields, our water borehole drilling teams perform a complete service. From initial telephone consultation and/or a ‘no obligation’ site visit – we can supply a quote. We can carry out any water borehole drilling and installation, water sampling and water treatment recommendations/installation if necessary. Or if preferred, we can carry out a smaller operation to include water borehole drilling/installation to include submersible pump and headworks only.

Presently abstractions of less than 20m3/day do not require an abstraction license from the Environment Agency. If the abstraction is greater than 20m3/day an abstraction license is required.

We serve a variety of clients for many different purposes:
  • Livestock boreholes
  • Domestic boreholes
  • Agricultural boreholes
  • Leisure industry boreholes
  • Dairy wash-down boreholes
  • Irrigation boreholes
  • Haulage wash-down boreholes
  • Water monitoring boreholes
  • Pond/lake/fishery boreholes
  • Industrial process boreholes
  • Monitoring boreholes

Ground Source Heat Pump Borehole Drilling

Hughes Exploration & Environmental Ltd install ground source heat boreholes for domestic/non-domestic clients together with leading renewable heat installers throughout the UK.

Ground Source Heating systems offer a range of benefits:
  • Government incentives available
  • Lower carbon emissions
  • Heat pumps can also provide cooling in summer, as well as heating in winter
Ground source heat pumps are the only renewable energy technology that can benefit from the thermal energy storage properties of the ground to recycle heat from summer to winter.
  • Heat pumps can fuel both hot water and heating
  • Suitable for most properties
We have a range of drilling rigs to suit the access of locations. All rigs are rubber-tracked and manoeuvrable, with low environmental impact. Following the drilling, installation of ‘closed’ or ‘open’ loops are installed and pressure tested in-situ. For optimum performance the borehole(s) is back-filled utilising thermally enhanced grout.
