Water Treatment – Emergency & Remedial Call-Outs:
If you experience a loss of water supply or another urgent issue, we offer a priority emergency call-out service to help restore your system as quickly as possible.
To allow us to rearrange existing works and despatch our engineer(s) at short notice, a non-refundable call-out fee is required before attendance.
Our charges are as follows:
- During normal working hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm):
£100 call-out fee, plus £75 per hour for two operatives, charged from the time our engineer(s) depart the Hughes Workshop Facility. - Outside normal working hours (evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays):
£150 call-out fee, plus £85 per hour for two operatives, charged from the time our engineer(s) depart the Hughes Workshop Facility.
- Any parts, fixtures or fittings required will be charged in addition to the above.
Labour time is charged from departure as our engineer(s), vehicle, tools and equipment are fully dedicated to your job from that point and are unavailable for other work. This approach allows us to keep pricing transparent and avoids additional mileage charges.
The call-out fee contributes towards administration, and the disruption involved in rescheduling planned works at short notice.
The call-out fee must be paid by BACS before our engineer(s) are despatched.
Labour, parts, fixtures and fittings will be invoiced following completion of the works.
We always aim to respond promptly and work efficiently to restore your water supply safely and with minimal disruption.
FAQ’s:
Do I need water treatment for my private water supply?
If your water comes from a private source such as a borehole, well, or spring, it should be tested regularly. Water treatment may be required if microbiological contamination, chemical exceedances, or aesthetic issues are identified. We can sample, test, and advise on the appropriate treatment solution.
How often should my water be tested?
We recommend annual water testing as a minimum for private water supplies. More frequent testing may be required if there is a change in taste, colour, smell, pressure, or after maintenance or system faults.
What does water sampling involve?
We take on-site samples for microbiological and chemical analysis, which are then sent to an accredited laboratory. Once results are received, we explain the findings clearly and recommend any necessary remedial works or treatment systems.
Can you supply and install water treatment systems?
Yes. We provide full design, supply, and installation of water treatment equipment tailored to your water quality results and property requirements, ensuring your supply meets safe potable standards.
Where required, we can also design and provide suitable outdoor system housing, such as sheds, kiosks, or lean-to structures, to protect equipment and allow safe, convenient access for servicing and maintenance.
Do you service existing water treatment systems?
Yes. We offer annual servicing and maintenance for most types of water treatment systems, including filter changes, UV servicing, system checks, and performance testing.
What should I do if I lose my water supply?
If you experience a complete or partial loss of water, we offer an emergency call-out service. Contact us as soon as possible and we will arrange a priority response, subject to payment of the call-out fee.
What causes a “no water” fault?
Common causes include pump failure, electrical faults, pressure switch issues, blocked filters, dry boreholes, or treatment system malfunctions. Our engineers are experienced in diagnosing and resolving these issues quickly.
Do you work on submersible pumps?
Yes. We supply, service, and repair submersible pumps and tank pumps, including fault finding, performance issues, and pump replacement where required.
Are emergency call-out fees refundable if no fault can be found?
Emergency call-out fees are non-refundable. The fee covers priority attendance and diagnostic time, even where faults are intermittent or not present at the time of the visit.
Our engineer(s) will provide professional advice and recommendations to help resolve the issue as efficiently as possible. Where further remedial works are identified and subsequently instructed, the time spent on diagnostic work may be taken into consideration when preparing a quotation for the follow-on works.
